Edwin T. Cooke, 94, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Wednesday (May 16, 2012) at Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, IL.

A service to celebrate Ed’s life will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday (May 22, 2012) at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel, Highway 51 in Decatur, with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time.  Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Macon County Honor Guard.  Memorials can be made to Second Church of God, Church of the Brethren of Cerro Gordo or to Macon County Honor Guard.

Mr. Cooke was born on August 17, 1917 in Decatur, IL, the son of Edwin J. and Hazel A. (Dickson) Cooke.  Junior worked for Caterpillar as an inspector and also sold real estate for many years. He proudly served his country in the Army and was a veteran of World War II.  He was a member of The Moose Lodge 684 and The American Legion Post 105.  Ed loved to play golf and played five days a week here in Decatur.  Ed was unique in that his two holes in one in golf came over 50 years apart.

Surviving are his two siblings: sister, Mary Toth of Decatur, IL, and brother, Bill Cooke of Decatur, IL.  He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com .

Rosa Townsend Memories of Ed May 21, 2012
Many years ago Mr. and Mrs. Cooke (Ed & Clara) attended the Krall Reunion held yearly at the park in Cerro Gordo, IL.  I was a little girl and remember how much "fun" my sisters and I had with them.  He always had a smile on his face.

A few years ago I attended a Decatur Genealogical Society Meeting one Sunday, and he happened to come that day also...it was the first time he had attended.  He was 90 years old at that time, and we had many memories of which we discussed.  I was excited to see him again and really enjoyed the time  with him on that day!!!!

He was one of my "favorite cousins through marriage".  My father was Woodrow Cornell; his mother was a Krall; and Clara was my dad's cousin.

He will be greatly missed by all.  I am sorry to be unable to attend his service. The oldest son of one of my cousins passed away, and his service is tomorrow also, but in Oak Brook, IL.

Will be thinking of you, with deepest sympathy.

So sorry to hear of Junior's passing.  He had a long and great life and enjoyed it most of it to the fullest.  His energy, stamina and work ethic was an inspiration.
